In the ICU, we decide on medication based on the 'type' of disease, as the treatment for different types of shock (Septic, Hypovolemic) is completely different. Identifying the correct type for research-based treatment is the most vital step in saving a life.

In my clinical practice, when we give CPR in an emergency or insert a central line, precise knowledge of anatomy saves us from making major mistakes.

'रेशनल' का मतलब है किसी भी मेडिकल काम के पीछे का ठोस वैज्ञानिक कारण। आईसीयू में हम कोई भी दवा या प्रोसीजर बिना रेशनल के नहीं करते। अगर हम मरीज को वेंटिलेटर पर रख रहे हैं, तो उसके पीछे एक गहरा क्लिनिकल रेशनल और रिसर्च होती है। एक नर्सिंग ऑफिसर के तौर पर, रेशनल को समझना हमें यह आत्मविश्वास देता है कि हमारा किया गया हर काम मरीज को मौत के मुंह से बाहर निकालने के लिए सही है।

Rationale means the solid scientific reason behind any medical action. In the ICU, we do not perform any medication or procedure without a rationale. If we are putting a patient on a ventilator, there is a deep clinical rationale and research behind it. As a Nursing Officer, understanding the rationale gives us the confidence that every action we take is correct for pulling the patient out of the jaws of death.
